LIBERIA’S LEGISLATURE PROPOSING HUGE PENSON BENEFIT! WHAT YOUR TAKE? The Huge Pension Scheme Package for ex-government official proposal submitted by Hon. Edwin Melvin Snowe is devilish and its an attempt to continue living luxurious lives at the expense of the poverty striking people. The Liberia’s legislature is one of the highest paid in the region and Africa but, still pushing for additional benefits mismanaging what are being given them and removed as a result of selfish and bad leadership. You can recall last year, we observed Ten Years of Peace but, I will say here that there is no peace in Liberia as it stands. Remember, peace is not only the absence of the sounds of guns; peace encompasses serving the interest of the human person and taking decisions for the good of the common people but, this is not the case in Liberia. Since 2013 up to present, young people and women are still being marginalized; lack of opportunities to support their children education, or acquire needed skills and live a happy life too. Every year, our law makers increase their salaries and benefits even not considering their staffers. Civil Servant who produce the data and providing direct services to the common people are never been considered over the last ten years. In Liberia, law makers take home between 10-15,000 USD monthly excluding fringe benefits while Civil Servant take home L$7,000.00/US$120.00. What a big and unrealistic difference. Very devilish to the dignity of the human person! Notwithstanding, they are now pushing for same salaries and benefits after they have heartlessly and insincerely rule the people and mismanaged what is being given them presently and removed. What is the benefit or impact it will have on to the common people to use the country’s resources to provide salaries for your private life? I believe, the best thing they can do is to wisely use by investing in order to sustain themselves when retired or removed then, to call for huge benefits after been removed as a result of bad leadership. What a wicked and heartless leaders of our time. Fellow young people and leaders of civil society organizations I call on you all to join this fight to resist this selfish and devilish bill. We can’t see few people continue to marginalize majority. The benefits mentioned in the proposed Penson package are not necessary especially, where there is urgent call for support to youth endeavors. J.
