LIFES ACCOUNT: Cont. 3. Wealth and Life. Man has two accounts. Is it true of every man? The answer is No. The Lord Jesus was addressing those that are His. Are you? If the answer is yes, then you have an account in heaven and here is the advice from the Lord: Matt.6:19-21. ”Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust corrupt and where thieves do not break in to steal. For where your treasure is there will your heart be also.” Once a man came to the Lord and said: “Master, speak to my brother that he divides inheritance with me,” He said unto him, “Man who made me judge or divider over you? And he said unto them, Take hid and beware of covetousness, for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things that he possesses,” (Luke.12:13-15). He told them of the story of the rich farmer that had a bumper harvest and was addressing his soul to eat and drink and be merry, since he had plenty and many years before him. That night God took away his soul. The Lord Jesus ended up by saying, “So is he that layeth treasure for himself and is not rich toward God,” (V21). There are indeed believers that are rich, whether before or after salvation, it really matters not but a word of exhortation is penned down for them too, in: 1Tim.6:17-19. “Charge them (the believers) that are rich in this world that they should not be high-minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who gives us richly all things to enjoy. That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate, laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may take hold of eternal life.” So For the account in heaven, the deposits are, good works, (that they be rich in good works, 1Tim.6:17). In his letter to the church at Philippi, Paul, commenting on the support he had received from that gathering, says this to them: For even in Thessalonica, ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your Account, Phil.4:16&17. First, the exhortation is to the believer. There are those things God has freely given, namely: 1. Eternal life. John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that, he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” 2. Inheritance. 1Pet.1:3-4. “Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who according to His abundant mercy, hath begotten us again (Salvation) unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead unto an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” The second word is to the unbelieving. They only have one account. It is as if one has a coin with one side showing riches and all the achievements, and the other side is completely blank! They live for here and now- “Let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die,” 1Cor.15:32b. They have nothing to look forward to. They are earthly and nothing to do with God. Our lives are not our own but are linked to God. The Lord God has said, Behold, all souls are mine. As the soul of the father, so also of the son...” Ezek.18:4. The unbelieving think, there is no God. Riches and wealth is their god. The Lord Jesus speaks of a Profit and Loss account of Life. To be cont.
