★LIKE A PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES★SCARED BUT SO SWEET AND CALM NEEDS A NEW HOPE.*$295 in pledges.* MONDAY NOON ASHES may be ALL that REMAINS. Phoenix is a calm sweet older lady who definitely appreciates people and other dogs. While active she is calm and sociable, housetrained and a good dog. Undernourished and scared the difficult conditions of her evaluation have led to a New Hope rating but her conduct in the shelter shows her more normal and sweet disposition. Like her namesake she needs a second chance but unlike her namesake her death is permanent. She needs a caring home and a loving word not a STAB ON A COLD SLAB. She won’t take up much room in your home but will fill it with love. Could you give her the home that she needs? Or will her NEW HOPE be NO HOPE at all? PHOENIX TO BE DESTROYED - 09/22/14 Manhattan Center Animal ID # is A1013745. 10 YEARS old. A volunteer writes: Look deep, deep into my eyes...you want to pet me...to give me treats...you want to take me home...Are you as mesmerized by Phoenix as I am? This adorable little peanut is truly 10 years young, a petite and sprightly girl who could easily pass for a pup half her age were it not for those pleading, world-weary eyes. How could anyone say no to such a sweet face? Phoenix is a study in contrasts, a lady of mystery whose past is hard to guess and while shes undernourished, her coat patchy and has clearly been used for breeding purposes, shes also spayed, sociable (though a bit shy) and seems extremely house trained too, peeing a veritable river as soon as we hit the yard. Phoenix is a good walker, calm and easy, and she knows how to sit on command for some tasty treats, taking them like a polite little lady despite her obvious hunger. Clearly someone once cared enough to teach her how to be a good dog and though she showed a bit of attitude during her behavior evaluation and isnt one to seek out snuggles, she accepts my gentle petting with no issues, even hopping her front legs up onto my belly if I beckon with a treat. Phoenix doesnt ask for much in life, just to spend time quietly hanging out with friends (shes cool with other dogs too), using her keen nose to explore the outside world, eating her favorite foods (that would be all foods, period!) and at the end of the day, curling up for a well-earned rest, content in the knowledge that she is safe and loved. Phoenix may not take up much space in your house but youll need to make plenty of room in your heart because this tiny cutie is going to steal it away with just one look. So go ahead and give in to her charms, fall under her spell and offer our wee Phoenix the chance to rise from the ashes of her past and start a new life as the cherished pet she deserves to be...
