Several rounds of showers & thunderstorms are expected to affect Kansas over the next few days. However, the greatest risk for heavy rainfall appears to be from Sunday night through Monday night. Rainfall over the past week or so across a majority of the area has exceeded 2”, with some locations exceeding 5”. Some of the highest recent rainfall amounts have occurred across Ellsworth, McPherson & Marion counties in central Kansas and over Sumner, Cowley & Montgomery counties in south central & southeast Kansas. Additional rainfall of 2-4” is possible across much of the area over the next few days. If this occurs the risk for low-land flooding will increase greatly over the area with the potential for flash flooding. Significant rises on area creeks & rivers can also be expected with potential for main-stem creek & river flooding by Monday & Tuesday. If you live in low-lying, flood prone areas including creeks & rivers please be alert for heavy rainfall & any rising water levels the next few days. Listen for later forecasts & possible flood watches & warnings.
