Good Wednesday to one and all. Our mild start to October is about - TopicsExpress

Good Wednesday to one and all. Our mild start to October is about to be joined by a scattering of showers and thunderstorms. This happens as moisture increases from the southwest over the next few days. As we track some boomers, we continue to look ahead to a big change for the weekend. The storm system promoting that change is looking slower and slower.Let’s get into it.Scattered showers and storms will be around today… especially across central and western Kentucky. Not everyone will get in on the action, but the chance is certainly there. Highs today will hit the mid to upper 70s for many. The occasional 80 degree temp will be possible for areas getting more in the way of sun.A scattering of storms will likely be around on Thursday. The trend in the models seems to be toward a little wetter scenario over the next couple of days. Here’s the rainfall forecast from the NAM…The rain chances will diminish on Friday as temps warm toward 80 degrees on a gusty southwesterly wind. I still can’t rule out a stray shower or thunderstorm. The weekend system continues to be all over the place on the models. That’s especially the case now that we try to throw a tropical system into the mix. This is a system developing across the western Caribbean and will head northward into the Gulf of Mexico. The current tropical models are pretty clustered with the track of this system…How that system interacts with the deep trough swinging in from the west will be the key to the forecast for the weekend into early next week. You can see how the GFS is trying to get the trough to absorb this system by Sunday…We will have to wait and see how that mess plays out. Some thoughts…Friday looks warm and windy with highs around 80 and only a slight chance for a storm.Saturday will see our cold front rolling in from the west. Showers and thunderstorms will increase from west to east later in the day.Gusty showers and some thunder will be with us Sunday as the front slowly works through. Temps will be much colder behind this boundary.Whatever comes from the south may keep rain and wind around into Monday… especially in the east.I may have an update later today. Have a good one and take care.
