LITTLE THING THAT MATTERS--FEEDING OF MORE THAN 5,000 PEOPLE WITH 5 LOAVES OF BREAD AND 2 PIECES OF FISH,JOHN 6:1-14 My English Language Teacher at Baptist College,Iwo,Osun State,Nigeria,now Bowen University-Ms Austin always told us,her students then that: LITTLE THING THAT MATTERS. Yes,little things matter alot,meaning that we must not underrate,or overlook the importance[positive/negative] of all things whether little,few,or much because littlt thing matters alot.If not,how would it be possible to feed more than 5000 people who were with CHRIST JESUS without the provision of 5 loaves of bread and 2 pieces of fish,John 6:1-12.Actually,little things in the hands of GOD matters alot,and such little thing are utilized to show the power and glory of GOD. FEW EXAMPLES OF INSTANCES OF UTILIZING LITTLE THINGS TO SHOW THE GLORY AND POWER OF GOD *FEEDING OF MORE THAN 5000 PEOPLE WITH 5 LOAVES OF BREAD,AND 2 PIECES OF FISH,John 6:1-12. Get it right,JEHOVAH GOD uses small things to accomplish great things for HIS glory.This means that what may be very unimportant,and insignificant in the sight of human beings are always utilized by GOD to show HIS power over all that HE created. Consequently,CHRISTwas able to feed more than 5000 people,and yet with 12 basket full of bread and fishes as left-over,John 6:1-13.In other words,the unrecognised lad with 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fishes became recognised when the HOLY SPIRIT power of multiplication fell upon the little provisions at hand. *THE USE OF CLAY AND SPITTLE TO RESTORE THE EYE SIGHT OF A MAN BORN BLIND,JOHN 9:1-7 CHRIST made clay with HIS spittle,and anointed the eyes of the man,and directed him to go and wash at the pool of Siloam.The man regained his sight before he even started going.Clay and spittle were used.They are little but mighty in the hands of our LORD!John 9:6-7. *USE OF A TREE TO TURN BITTER WATERS OF MARAH TO SWEET WATERS,EXODUS 15:22-25 The people of GOD encamped in the wilderness os Shur where they found no water except the waters of Marah.GOD showed Moses a tree,and directed him to cast the tree into the waters and they became sweet.The people of GOD drank to thier satisfaction,Exodus 15:24-25. Little thing that matter-a tree,changing bitter waters of Marah to sweet water! Many more instances of using little things to accomplish great things for the glory of GOD are abound in the Scriptures.However,there are instances where people made use of little things negatively to their disadvantages. NEGATIVE USE OF LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER BY HUMAN BEING Whenever little things are used negatively they always manifest disobedience to the commandments of GOD,or disobedience to authority.However,it always attracts the consequences of disobedience,Deuteronomy 28:15-68.Therefore,these are some of the instances: -THE USE OF ROD BY MOSES TO STRIKE ROCK TWICE,A DISOBEDIENCE TO THE INSTRUCTION OF GOD,NUMBERS 20:1-12. GODs command to Moses was to speak to the rock to bring water for the people of GOD who encamped in Kadesh,at the water of Meribah,Numbers 20:8.Moses on his own volition,struck the rock twice negating the instruction of GOD,this little thing made him not to get to the promise or fulfilled his destiny in life,Numbers 20:12. -MAKING RELATIONSHIP WITH UNBELIEVER,JUDGES 16:4 Samson,a Nazarite of GOD from birth thought it wise to have relationship a Delilah,whose tribe is an enemies of the people of GOD,the Philistines,and unbelievers for that matter.Whereas,it is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14-16,that children of light should not associate with children of darkness!BUT samson went ahead,thought it was a little thing,and he paid the supreme sacrifice,Judges 16:17-30. *BETRAYAL OF CHRIST JESUS WITH ORDINARY 30 PIECES OF SILVER BY JUDAS ISCARIOT,MATTHEW 26:1-4,14-15 Talking in terms of big money even then,how much is 30 pieces of silver,when people are counting silver and gold then in thousands!Yet that little money fell made CHRIST to be betrayed,and made Judas Iscariot to hang himself,Matthew 27:3-5. -DISOBEDIENCE OF SAUL TO SIMPLE INSTRUCTION OF GOD TO KILL A LIVING THINGS IN AMALEK,1 SAMUEL 15:2-9 King Saul considered the instruction of GOD minor and little in his sight.He went to Amalek,carried out his own assignment not that of GOD,consequently,he was rejected by GOD,and eventually died,1 Sameul 15:8-9;31:1-6. From the foregoing,the negative use of LITTLE THING THAT MATTERS were examined.However,it is more rewarding to utilize little things that matter positively for the glory of GOD.Therefore,these are the steps to take in order to use LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER positively: *Purpose in your mind to serve GOD,and humanity all the days of your life,Job 36:11,and do what the LORD GOD requires of you,Micah 6:8. *Always thing deeply before you take any action or before you speak,Proverbs 23:7;Philippians 4:8,do not think evil in your heart,Matthew 9:4.Consider all your deeds if they are for the glory of GOD,1 Corinthians 10:31. *Acknowledge GOD in all your undertakings in life,and do not be wise in your own eyes,Proverbs 3:5-8.Learn to rely on the power of the HOLY SPIRIT to be your guide at all times. *Be come born again.John 3:3-7.This makes you to be empowered,John 1:12.Therefore,the power of the HOLY SPIRIT will be directing you to utilize all little things that matter wisely.Moreso, CHRIST recognises the little efforts made by that woman in Luke 7:37-48. CONCLUSION Do not underrate or belittle any thing in life.Bear in mind that all things,little,big or small have their impacts-positively or negatively on human beings.By and large,children of GOD must follow that which is good,and hold fast to that which is good,3 John 11.
