LIVE IT! A Spiritual Checkup 2 Corinthians 13:5-7 Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that JESUS CHRIST is in you? – unless, of course, you fail the test. I hope you will discover that we have not failed. But we pray to GOD that you may not do evil, not that we may appear to have passed the test but that you may do what is right, even though we may seem to have failed. STOP! How often do you take a break from all the activities in your life to do a spiritual checkup on your relationships with GOD, other people and yourself? In 2 Corinthians 13:5-7, Paul suggest that the Corinthians give themselves a spiritual self-check. This is good advice for us today as well. A STOP sign is a good guiding image for a spiritual checkup. It signals you to interrupt the motion of life and look at what’s going on around you. Each letter of the sign can be a reminder to check a different area of your spiritual life: S – can stand for “seek.” Do you seek information, counsel, and help when facing difficult or confusing situations and choices? T – can stand for “think.” Do you honestly think about how your actions and behaviors affect you, others and your relationship with GOD? O – can stand for “others.” Do you make it a priority to reach out and support others – particularly those in great need? Are you there for your family and friends? P – can stand for “pray.” Do you turn to GOD for guidance in your life? For the strength to do what is right? Do you thank GOD for your blessings and the struggles that make you stronger?
