LOCAL NEWS SAINT James Aldergrove GAC would welcome a few helping hands with the club growing from strength to strength in recent years. The appeal was made as around 40 members attended the recent AGM, which was held in their clubrooms. In the secretarys report, Marty OToole highlighted and praised the coaching and playing personnel for a successful year at all football levels - the achievements of the players in county development squads and the positive improvements made by the teams throughout the year on and off the field. The secretary also sincerely thanked all the volunteers, coaches, parents and players who played their part in the club this year and gave them credit for their continued dedication and commitment. A club spokesperson said: It was encouraging to see so many members caring enough for their club to come along to have their say on how things are being run in their club. It was also good to see a number of parents, coaches and also to see senior players in attendance. Yet, in Aldergroves case, the more the merrier and one of the main topics of discussion at the AGM was the overall development of the club from the perspective of expanding and widening the intake through an increased drive on recruiting and encouraging the active involvement of additional volunteers to act at the forefront of coaching, administrating, fundraising and the many other roles within the club. A number of members spoke positively about the benefits that have been visible in recent years through the increase in people helping out and voiced their collective belief that for the club to continue growing and developing it would need a larger body of willing volunteers at all levels at the club Club official Luke Sinclair made a plea to all members, associates, friends and supporters of the club to consider becoming actively involved in the club in the coming year, for the following reasons - the success of the teams this year has been a testament to the commitment shown to the players by the coaches who have worked tirelessly to bring on their players and provide them with the best opportunity to develop, learn and succeed.
