LONG LIFE You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:32 There is so much attached to respecting and honoring the elderly ones. Infact, the first commandment of God with a promise of long life is honoring our elders. Ex 20:12 ¶ "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. When we fail to honor our elders, premature death becomes inevitable. God revealed to man the secret of long life, and it’s not in maintaining healthy food hygiene, exercising our body, keeping strictly to driving rules, neither is it in been careful over everything but its in respecting the elders. Long life is the aftermath of honoring the elders and is not a result of been prayerful or been careful in life. The only way to attract the spirit of long life and reject premature death is in honoring the elders. When we insult the gray headed, disregard there presence, we invite premature death our way. Our text says, you shall rise for the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man. You can’t remain seated on a sit while an elderly person is yet to have a place to sit. Never be quick to curse an elderly person even when he had done something wrong. We become elders when we honor and respect the elderly ones. The devil succeeds in taking our life whenever he succeeds in making us dishonor the elderly. God only satisfy us with long life when He makes us honor the elders. If you honor the elders, whenever you are in a place of danger, a miracle will always happened to save you. For a long life, honor the elders.
