LONG POST WARNING: NOT A FUNNY NICHOLAS STORY State law says that Nicholas can not enter a school until he is almost six because his birthday in in October. He needed to be born before September 30. ****Flashback to my four year old self**** shaking my fist at the world for denying me school, when I was ready. The Indignity of it all !!!!! We have been thinking about having Nicholas attend online school. I have been looking into it on and off, since I found out that I was pregnant. At that time, Washoe County School District (WCSD) did not have a specific online option, but the district would pay for either Nevada Virtual Acadamy (powered by K-12) or Nevada Connections Academy. I have been reading and learning about both schools, trying to figure out, which would serve Nicholas best. Now, WCSD has an online option (Northstar) and the other two are no longer options, as they are just considered standard private schools. I made some calls and Northstar uses the Connection Academy for their curriculum. So, the district made the choice for us. At least, at this point, there arent any waiting lists for it. I do not see Richard getting a day-shift position, unless God intervenes. Therefore, I doubt Nicholas will end up at Van Gorder. It would not be too bad, as it is a good school. I expect that if he does end up at a regular elementary school, several things will happen: 1) They will bore him. He will be left out, because he will be too far ahead of his schoolmates. (He will probably be used to clean erasers, work in the school cafeteria, student store, library,... oh wait that was me) 2) He will become a discipline problem, as when he gets bored, he looks to cause trouble (like he does now). 3) We will definitely have to supplement his education to make sure that he doesnt learn to coast. (The way that I did from about sixth grade on.) In the meantime, we are starting to use time4learning for supplementing his Kindle to keep him occupied and not causing as much trouble around the house. We tried the preK and prek2 stuff but it was too easy. He is quickly working through the kindergarten stuff. If anyone wants a friend invite to this, please let me know :D Yes, they do give a bonus, if you get friends to join. I just dont want to randomly email annoy my friends for a few bucks. I will leave that to Facebook HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
