LOOKING FOR A CRITIQUE OF THIS EQUATION!!!! the equation starts out with the goal of truth and ends with a moral ought to have the desire to maximize the well being of all(or as many possible): From the goal of truth=the scientific method(as the process that brings us to the closest approximation to truth)=the understanding of the interconnectedness (directly and indirectly) of all the components (and relationships of components) within a given system(and outside of the given system) AND the understanding that unless impaired by excess suffering(unmet needs and/or abuse and systems that enforce unmet needs and/or abuse) and/or ignorance, humans actively try to maximize their own well being(and the well being of others) at the expense of no one AND the understanding that in order to maximize the well being of the individual to the greatest extent possible that we must maximize the well being of the human tribe/animals/environment we are dependent upon to the greatest extent possible=self interest/social interest/environmental interest merge=we ought to have the goal of maximizing well being for all(or as many as possible).
