LOOKING LIKE THE DEVIL Going to church but looking like the devil? Is that possible? The Bible says you know a tree by its fruit. What kind of fruit (character traits) make us look most like Satan: #1- PRIDE: C. S. Lewis said, “The utmost evil is pride. It was through pride that the Devil became the Devil.” Pride is thinking more highly of ourselves than we should. Pride is most of all, feeling no need for God, considering yourself self-reliant. #2 - GOSSIP: one of the Greek words for this is “diabolos,” also translated “the devil.” People who are gossips and slander others are acting like the devil. #3 - STEALING: Which is taking something that doesnt belong to you. The Devil wanted Gods throne. That is why you should not covet, because coveting is the desire to have something that does not belong to you. #4 - LYING: the devil is the father of lies, and lying is his proper language. Revelation 21:27 tells us no liars will enter into heaven. Pride, gossiping, stealing and lying are all character traits that make us look like the devil. Man made in the image of God looks pretty good, but when man looks like the devil, he sure is ugly.
