LP denies handing over Ogun structure to Daniel on march 13, 2014 at 1:20 am in news BY DAUD OLATUNJI ABEOKUTA—The national Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Chief Ikpe Etokudo, yesterday, said that the national leadership has not handed over the party structure in Ogun State to former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Etokudo who stated this at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital during the general meeting of the state chapter of the party, denied that the party executive members in the state led by the state chairman, Olabode Simeon have been suspended. The LP has been enmeshed in crisis of leadership in the state as both Daniel and the embattled chairman of the party in the state, Olabode Simeon fight over the party structure in the state. Speaking on the controversy trailing the alleged handing over of the party structure to Daniel, Etomudo said: “We asked people to join our party, anybody can join the party, but, what we don’t agree is that somebody should not join the party and dissolve the executive without the due process. “If you want to join the party, go to your wards and collect the party registration card. We have not handed over the party structure in the state to anybody. “All the proposed congresses are illegal. The court said the status quo should remain and what it means is that, the executive continues with their activities. “As far as the party is concerned, the status quo should remain and if Daniel wants to be a party member he should go to his ward and register, we have not handed the party to anybody.” However, the national publicity secretary who read a speech on behalf of some members of the National Working Committee included the national vice- chairman, South-South, Lawson Osagie, national vice- chairman, North-West, Umoru Muhammed and national treasurer, Maria Lebeke among others, warned the national chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu against unilateral decision. In the statement, he condemned the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term, describing it as fraudulent, unauthorised and self-serving. #GBAM #LOBATAN.
