LUKE Chapter 18 The Parable of the Persistent Widow 1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, Give me justice against my adversary. 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge says. Youll notice that when you study about this widow, that she only got her justice because she kept at it. If lets say she would have given up, the judge would have said goodness gracious, that was a close one, if she would have kept at it, I would have lost the bribe money and would have had to give into her demands. Notice also what the Word of GOD says, it mentions justice. That means the widow was in the right and her opponent in the wrong, yet the judge had chosen the opponents side. Justice for you. In Christ, not by works but by grace, you have been made an heir of all things that pertain to life and godliness. That is to say, everything you need to please God and to make you life pleasant, while lacking nothing is already yours. Yet most times we dont see ourselves walking in the fullness of what God has done for us in Christ. Good thing the Word of God has an answer to this, persistent heartfelt continual prayer. Like the widow, she didnt give up until she got what was hers. So we also dont give in or give up till we reach the mark of our higher calling, all day and all night we labor and travail in prayer till the fullness of Christ is formed within us, till we contain the fullness of the Godhead, being able to stand under the weight of His glory. Like in the widows case, the opponent being satan will hold on to what is yours till you live a life of devotion, especially to prayer and mostly praying in tongues.
