Laboratory Director - Biosan Laboratories, Inc. (biosan) Founded in 1973 and located in Warren, Michigan, is a leading industrial microbiology testing laboratory and manufacturer of microbiological testing devices. Biosan Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a qualified Laboratory Director to oversee the scientific functions of its laboratory business. Position requirements: • Industrial or environmental microbiology experience, strong background and expertise with antimicrobial control methods and biocide applications in industrial process systems and related standard laboratory test methods. • Experience in laboratory project management, implementation of laboratory procedures and compliance audits. • Knowledge of technological advances related to laboratory test methods and industry trends. • Ability to collaborate well with a wide variety of customers and laboratory personnel. Responsibilities: • Laboratory Director shall work with minimal supervision and supervise microbiological testing conducted by small (3-5 person) laboratory staff. • Provide technical service to laboratory and product customers, review laboratory data, design and review test methodology and SOPs, and perform investigations for out of specification test results and deviations. • Attend national scientific meetings and seek to publish in peer-reviewed scientific and technical papers. • In addition to supervising laboratory staff, Laboratory Director should be able to supervise, carry out and demonstrate laboratory test methods on the bench level. Most frequent industrial and environmental laboratory tests include antimicrobial testing, microbial identifications, standard tests (ASTM, AATCC, ISO, etc.), water analysis for legionella, microscopy and quality assurance testing. Education: PhD or Masters Degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry or related area is required.
