Lacey update! Lacey is back at the shelter with us at this time. Her time was up at her training camp and we felt it would be easier for potential adopters to see her here. We have been having a trainer come in and continue to work with her. She has been doing very well here with her training and has learned many new skills! She is learning to problem solve to control her own excitement. By the time her training is finished she will know all of her basic commands and will learn how to behave in order to get what she wants. She is wonderfully intelligent and is learning the skills necessary to live with humans that she never got earlier in life. Lacey is learning to control her arousal, such as if I want to play instead of jumping up and barking I lay down and make eye contact, then the fun begins! Lacey needs to learn that her behavior effects what she has access to and is learning that calm and attentive behaviors give her access to food, playtime, walks, and training sessions! By teaching her to use her brain, it builds confidence and teaches her to control her own arousal, making learning new behaviors easier, and even fun! We are looking for a rescue or a very experienced dog owner that is committed to continuing with her training so that her opportunities to enjoy and be apart of life are limitless! We are committed to finding Lacey the right home, therefore funding for Lacey’s continued training could be provided. Lacey does quite well on a leash and loves to go for walks! She is a very sweet loving girl that deserves a chance! Lacey would do best with no small children and being the only animal in the home so she can get the attention and training she deserves! Lacey has been around other dogs, and would be okay with an older or a mellow, dominant male. Please call 860-434-3047 if interested or for more information!
