Ladies, Babies, and Gentlemen - something marvelous has just occurred. Over a week ago, on a mystical island in Sweden - while looking for hidden sea fairies in the understone, I slipped, fell, and overextended my shoulder to the point of near immobility. Yesterday, while lying awake in bed, I decided to test something Ive been reading in some obscure ancient text. I focused on the pain of my broken branch, pinpointed the exact location of the damage and tested the principle of polarity and vibration *there are two sides to everything, opposites are identical in nature, yet different in degree, extremes meet, and all paradoxes may be reconciled. As strange as that may sound - I set out on a grand internal adventure. In my mind, I conjured up a knob of sensation with which I could personally influence the degree of the sensation of my shoulder by turning the level to its highest degree of pain. To my surprise, wether it was because I was simply giving it more attention or because it just so happened to hurt more in that exact moment, it worked. Then - I imagined turning the knob of sensation in the opposite direction of pleasure. Again - it worked. Though I had expected it to be a linear reversal of sensation (like turning the radio scanner knob from A to Z and back again) - or - from pain, to discomfort and from discomfort into pleasure. Rather, I experience a more circular motion - where the line between extreme pain and extreme pleasure were connected at the tip of the arch. I continued to play around with it, until I fell asleep. This morning I woke up with not a trace of the pain left over. I probably wouldnt quite believe it if I told myself this story - but it may be one of the most mind blowing experiences of my life. The more plausible alternative to this story is of course that Aliens came down while i was sleeping, and fixed my shoulder… but Im going to go on a limb on this one, and believe in my own healing arts. Henceforth Ive decided to treat all my limbs like I would my loyal servants. I give them names. I pet them, feel them, stroke them, love them. They serve me well - night and day - and sometimes I treat them like emotionless machinery… nevermore.
