Ladies, I need to tell you about my experience this past week. One of my children got married-it was the first one to do so. But there were some huge hurdles. Number one I had not been on a plane for 34 years. I have some physical frailties that made flying daunting-even though I loved it as a younger woman. Second my ex husband of 27 years was attending the wedding with his new wife who he had cheated on me with-and I had avoided this encounter to protect myself. My son and his fiancee originally were going to hold the wedding near me so I would attend-but I told them to plan their dream wedding and I would find a way to be there...I wanted to think I could do it-but in actuality overstated my abilities-or so I thought. My daughter in law confronted me a week or so ago and said I wish you woudlnt have said that because it is so important to me and your son that you are there...I was having nightmares about my ex. I went to the doctor who said I was fine to fly. SO knowing I really needed to go-should go and wanted to go-my child took me on the plane, carried my bags and sat by me on the flight supporting me-but funny enough once I was on the plane-I was happy, calm and peaceful. At the rehearsal the next day my son decided to let me walk him down the aisle (of course I did ask him LOL) which was such an honor. My ex husband came with his new wife and I just stayed near my kids and family and focused on how AMAZING and lucky I was. The moral of this story is NEVER underestimate what you can do-and always be there for the people you love the most. I feel so happy, empowered and am so aware that I would have missed one of the GREATEST experiences of my life if I let my fears and trepidations rule me as they sometimes do. Has anyone else faced something and come out the other side stronger??? Please comment it will help other women.
