Ladies and gentlemen, its time for another Model Spotlight! Today were featuring one of our two lovely Baronesses -please say hello to stunning and deadly Veronica O.! How did you first get into costuming/cosplay and how long have you been doing it? I first got into the world of Cosplay with the 501st Legion. I have a Leah Boushh costume so I am a certified 501st Bounty Hunter. I sport a Biker Scout for the 501st as well. I also cosplay as Aayla Secura Jedi Knight; I have yet to join the Rebel Legion but will possibly have dual membership since Leah can be Rebel Legion as well. It really took off from there. When we looked at The Finest, I knew I wanted to be Baroness since a lot of my cosplay friends said I looked just like her, so I took that to the next level and we now have our own Texas 788th Finest group. What lead you to costume as this particular GI Joe/Cobra character? My family in the 501st always said I would make a great Baroness. Fellow cosplayers said I should tackle this one, and the more I heard it and remembered the character in the comics, I knew she would be my next cosplay adventure. What other characters do you costume as? Do you have a favorite? Some of my other costumes include Leah Boushh, Biker Scout, Zatanna, Wonder Woman, Huntress, Aayla Secura Jedi Knight, Endor Leah, Soundwave from Transformers, Donatello from Ninja Turtles and Lara Croft. I am sure there will be more to come in my near future. If money and time were no objects, who/what character would be your ultimate fantasy cosplay? The ultimate fantasy cosplay for me with money being no object would be Mystique from X-Men. LOVE HER!! What is the worst costume malfunction you ever experienced and how did you handle it? Fortunately, I have not had this happen yet, but I am sure its coming…Im doing my Wonder Woman in a short film so let’s see how the top holds up! Do your friends and family know you cosplay? Yes, all my friends and family know I do this. I love being the character not just dressing as them, so my acting comes into play but I have fun with it and the fans! Tell us a little bit about your photographer and the inspiration behind your GI Joe-themed photo shoot? The photographer for my shoot was my husband, Carlos Orosco who is also a Cobra Driver for Baroness. We both share in this passion for cosplay. It is great to share in a common interest like this and when the kids are away the parents now get to play. Aside from costuming, what are your other hobbies/interests? I am an active actress in San Antonio, Texas and I have done several films including Bernie with Jack Black and Shirley McClain; TV shows such as The Lying Game and Robert Rodriguez’s new show From Dusk Til Dawn and filmed a TV series in Los Angeles. I have a few films slated for this year so be sure to follow me on my blog veronicaorosco and my facebook page https://facebook/veronicaoactress. Look me up as well on IMDB under Veronica Orosco to see my work! Tell us one thing about yourself that very few people know. Very few people know that I write poetry. I don’t let many people read my poetry but someday I may try to get them all published in my own book of poems. Any advice to people just getting into costuming/cosplay? What advice would have been helpful to you when you were getting started? Patience, time and extra money will get you far but don’t be discouraged if you are trying to make the costumes yourself. My husband and I have had harder pieces of our costumes commissioned by some of the best and the rest we did on our own, but the important thing is to have fun with this. A lot of time and dedication goes into the world of cosplay, so get out there and have fun, BE your character and OWN IT!
