Lady Huskies Report! The Varsity Volleyball team avenged an early season loss to the Melba Mustangs last night in Melba, spoiling their Homecoming Week celebration by routing the Mustangs in four sets. (25 - 23, 25 - 21, 19 - 25, 25 - 15). This marks the fifth match win for The Dawgs, who have won their last three of four contests, in what has become the best season in school history. The team stunned the Mustangs with the best team serve percentage of the season (97%) and played stellar defense against Melbas two big senior hitters. Second year Head Coach Michael Jordan stated after the match: It was a great match tonight against a good team and a really loud and rowdy crowd. It was a great test for our girls. We had a great week of prep and went in with a plan and executed it. This team continues to grow and mature and they are at the point where they expect to win when they walk into the gym. I am beyond words to describe how proud of them I am. The Huskies came into the match a little banged up with several athletes nursing slight injuries and illnesses nevertheless, they again had stand out performances from Junior MB Hannah Monroe and Freshman MB Kaysa Pfahnmuller with five and seven kills each along with four and eight blocks respectively. Senior OH Heather Iseri had her best match of the season with three kills and a 100 % serve percentage and her counterpart Junior OH Jamie Seaney also turned in a solid effort in the win with three kills and a 99% serve percentage. Freshman Setter Aubree Seaney again had an all around stellar offensive performance adding three blocks of her own and also went 100% from the serving line. Excellent effort from Kristen Bull and Abby Ives also contributed to the win. Coach Jordan also stated post match: Feels great to be a Dawg!! With this victory, the Huskies find themselves solidly in fourth place and are poised to host their first ever District Playoff match on Saturday the 18th at North Star Gym which has now become known as the Dawg House. The team has the rest of the week off and will host Nampa Christian on 10/14.
