Lagos is one of the oldest and historical cities in the Algarve dating back to 2000BC,being a walled city and having a natural harbour made it very important with its location and for fishing. The city has a vast array of cobbled streets with street cafés, bars and excellent restaurants to eat in. The main square has typical quaint houses and street entertainers with plenty of hand carved gifts to take home. The natural harbour is home to over 500 yachts and the fishing boats of Lagos, within 5 minutes of this harbour is 3 km of golden sand coloured beach. The beach has water sports, parasols and sun loungers for hire. Within a short drive you can visit the many water parks and the famous zoo marine with its interactive dolphins and for an extra charge you can swim with the dolphins. There is also a beach nearby in Porto do Mos that has 2 restaurants on it serving excellent food and cold drinks and is a 10 minute walk away and is golden sand.
