Lallana: Reds are getting rhythm back Adam Lallana accepts Liverpool were disappointed not to have turned a dominant display against Arsenal into three points, but believes Martin Skrtels 97th-minute equaliser could prove a defining moment in their season. The England international supplied the corner for the Reds centre-back to thump home a header deep into stoppage time and secure a well-deserved point against the Gunners. Liverpool had bossed the contest throughout and though they took the lead through a fine Philippe Coutinho effort, goals from Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud had given Arsene Wengers men the lead as the game ticked towards its conclusion - until Skrtels intervention. Lallana acknowledges the hosts were left to reflect on some frustration that 27 attempts at goal and close to 65 per cent possession was not rewarded with a victory. But he feels Brendan Rodgers side can take positives into a festive run of matches that will see them cross swords with Burnley, Swansea City and Leicester City. He told Liverpoolfc: Im thoroughly disappointed we didnt take all three points, but there was a good feeling about the whole atmosphere and the performance today - and its been like that for the last few games. We feel were turning a corner and getting a little bit of rhythm into our game. That goal was huge for us at the end because we would have been thoroughly disappointed with losing, but it was a point, a good performance and we move on. He continued: Although we didnt get the result, we picked up a vital point by getting a goal in the last minute and when we meet up again for training [on Monday] there wont be that bitter disappointment at not putting in a good performance. We know weve played well, so there are encouraging signs and well hopefully take that into the Burnley game. Liverpool once again utilised the 3-4-3 formation that has proved instrumental in helping them rediscover some of their attacking rhythm in recent matches, culminating in the Reds, at times, laying siege to Wojciech Szczesnys goal. Weve found a system that the gaffer has changed and got us playing - and I think its working, said Lallana. Weve been creating a lot more chances, in the United game, Bournemouth game and today. Were disappointed at conceding the first goal on the stroke of half-time. It probably gave Arsenal a little bit of momentum that could have been avoidable. But there was great character shown by the lads to keep pushing and get the vital goal at the end. On a personal level, Lallana was handed a third successive start in the clash with the Londoners, and turned in another industrious display in supporting Raheem Sterling in attack. The 26-year-old believes he is thriving in the new-look system - but ultimately more victories are what hes craving. Im enjoying being on the pitch and playing in the system we have been playing, the No.20 added. I feel its one of my best positions, but I am happy to play anywhere. I just feel I am becoming a bit more relaxed on the pitch now - and a relaxed Adam Lallana is probably when youll see the best of me. Im happy with the way things are going on the field at the minute, but we just want to pick up more results. Weve got a busy Christmas period and I feel if we can put in the performances weve shown over the last week, were not going to be too far away from picking up a lot of wins.
