Lancaster Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) would like to invite you to the join us on the afternoon of Sunday 19th Oct (sorry for the late notice) in an on going project of writing the names of people who were killed in Gaza over the summer. We are writing them on strips of white sheet, creating long banners. For those of you who were not in Lancaster over the summer, here is a short film of how we used the names at a vigil. https://youtube/watch?v=6tmhScEWGlQ&feature=youtu.be Displaying the rolls of names in this way was very powerful, and had a clear impact on passers by. Our intention was to humanize the rising death toll. We want to continue to create this powerful resource, which has the potential to be used in a number of settings. For those involved in creating the banners it has been a powerful and sombering experience. So far we have written about 1000 names. Please join us: Sunday, 19th October, 2014. 1pm until 5pm. Room 1, Friends Meeting House, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster We simply sit and write the names onto the ripped up white sheets - do come if you havent been before - its a sobering but inspiring task.. If possible, please bring CLEAN white sheets (try the various local charity shops?) and we can use valances or quilt covers too.. Permanent marker pens (some green, some red - but mainly black..) and some biccies are always a good thing for flagging wrists..
