Landon returned this morning to the scene from yesterday. The Southern Pride Lioness that lost one of her cubs to a crocodile was seen again this morning where the attack had taken place. She walked right down to the waters’ edge with her two remaining cubs and started contact calling, probably an attempt to see if her lost cub would somehow respond to her calls and come back………………………but this was not to be. We were all hoping that this scene would not be a repeat of what had happened the day before. After drinking with her two cubs at her side, the lioness lay down to rest next to the river and continuously looked into the deeper shadows where she had lost her cub the previous day………………hopefully she was more aware of the danger that lurked nearby. With her constant calling, drinking and walking along the river bank, the same large crocodile surfaced from beneath the water. The startled and weary lioness moved off with her two remaining cubs and later crossed in a safer place.
