Lands of Colour comprises vibrant colour works, carefully selected by Salt’s Indigenous curators Susan McCulloch and Emily McCulloch Childs, of artists from the Eastern Desert communities of Utopia and Ampilatwatja, the western deserts of Papunya and the extensive APY Lands of the southern deserts. The season of growth and renewal is celebrated in Aboriginal societies. Some desert language groups call this the ‘green time’ and the paintings that result often reflect the huge variety of colours of the flowers, seeds, grasses and trees that burst into life as well as the softness of the light and the more intense colours of the earth and sky.’ Susan McCulloch, Sept 2014 Join us for the opening of Lands of Colour; an exhibition of vibrant new colour works from Utopia, the Eastern Deserts, Papunya Tula & the APY Lands.
