Large numbers can be hard for people to visualize. This does a great job attempting to help folks appreciate how large of a universe we live in. Every little spec you see in this is a star, and current theories suggest that most stars probably have at least a few celestial bodies(read planets) orbiting around them. Read that and realize that this is just an image of one galaxy(Andromeda), of hundreds of millions of galaxies. Taking this into perspective, I find it very, very unlikely that Earth is the only planet that is harboring life....and I am hopeful that before I die, we discover that we are not alone.
