Larger Processor .Afternoon everyone just a follow on from yesterday . Here is our fuelwood Transaw in action. first the log deck takes about 30 tree trunks at a time and when the operator engages the hydraulics a three bed chain moves them onto three rollers which propel the trunk into the processor. The processor has a wide rubber feed belt that takes the log into the cutting chamber fitted with a circular saw that has a cutting capacity of 40cm (16 inches), and also has a 15-tonne semi-automatic splitting unit. The machine is operated via a control lever with a trigger to activate the splitting unit, this enables the operator to make a visual check to ensure the log is correctly aligned before splitting. The log is moved to the cutting position on the hydraulic in-feed conveyor. The log length is set on an adjustable optical beam. When the log breaks this beam the feed conveyor stops and a hydraulic clamp locks the timber. The saw blade then moves through the timber, retracts after cutting and the cut timber is then moved via a tilt and pushing action to the splitting chamber. Here a large 15 ton plunger ram pushes the log into the multi-splitting knife. Which is adjustable for 8/4/2 way splits, this can also be raised fully up if no splitting is required. The finished log length can be quickly adjusted from 6 to 20 inches. The logs are then transported into our storage boxes by a conveyor The saw dust is also collected via conveyor into builders bags which are then used as animal bedding. this machine can process a 10 ft log up to 14 inches in under two minutes. on a good day we can average 30 cubic meters of logs processed.
