Last Monday, the school district decided to close our Pathways - TopicsExpress

Last Monday, the school district decided to close our Pathways unit. District officials told my new principal that she was not to contact Pam or me, they would. As I was riding my bike across Iowa, I did not get a call. Pam did not either (guess they dont know her real name so they couldnt call her---REALLY?!?!?). By happenstance and luck on Wednesday afternoon, I contacted my new principal and she apologized about what happened. She was hoping Pam and I had a new home, but did offer want us to stay. It was a surprise to us both as Pam and I knew nothing. So she gave me personnels contact info. Both Pam and I then contacted personnel, but got only voicemail. So I did what any smart union member does, I contacted Michael Gandolfo, my new PCTA president. Michael said give him an hour. Pam got a call from personnel an hour later and told them this was not the way we should be treated and our placement priority was to be together at a school. I happened to be in the shower when I got the call from personnel. Called back and got voicemail once again. Thanks to Michael, we at least now had someone working for us. Long story short (because, trust me there is soooo much more!), after Pam and I worked the phones the next day (me texting and emailing as I had crappy cell service on the road home from Iowa) and Pam calling our many district friends, we were able to stay at The Street with our new friends. Thanks to Carries belief in us and Garyns love for us, we are no longer homeless. Ill be teaching 5th grade and Pam will be in 1st grade. So Street family, you are stuck with us for another year! Now to pack and unpack!
