Last Nights Dad Facts: Spuds, Tonight you play San Diego, California one of our favorite towns. Prudy and I particularly like the Gas Lamp Quarter. I’m not sure if it is still open, but Croces Park West is one of our favorite all-time restaurants. It is owned by Ingrid Croce. She was married to Jim Croce when he died in 1973 (a plane crash). He was a huge star and his music has lived on since then. I still recall hearing the news bulletin on the radio. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “Rosie, the riveter”. These were the women that built planes, ships and tanks for World War 2. Prudy’s Mom lived in San Diego during the war. She was a small woman, and her job was to crawl inside aircraft wings and rivet the ribs to the aluminum covering. I’m pretty sure San Diego was the first town created by the Spanish on the West Coast. Be sure to visit the Hotel del Coronado … it has hosted many US presidents. And who knows you may be president one day! Love, Dad Ps. I got a baseball glove for my 8th birthday. It was a Ted Williams signature glove. He instantly became my favorite player. Ted was born in San Diego.
