Last Thursday evening, I went “trick or treating” with a few - TopicsExpress

Last Thursday evening, I went “trick or treating” with a few of my closest friends. We had a great time and laughed gleefully. Before we went out, we all decided on what our costumes were going to be. We went out, got what we needed and worked extremely hard putting our costumes together, in such a short period of time. Whenever I got home, I went to chat with my dad and he asked me how my evening went. I explained how tiring it was, but evident by my large bag of candy, the reward overbalanced it. He then went through my candy like every other parent on Halloween. He then did something that took me by surprise. He took all 10 of the snickers bars that I had, and then layed them out on the coffee table. He then took 6 bars away and told me that I could do what I pleased with the remaining 4. He stated that with the other 6 that he took from me, he would give me them, when he thought that I needed them, and that he would also give them to other kids whenever they visited me. I started to get frustrated with my dad, and told him that I took the time putting my costume together and that it was not fair that I had to give up so much of the candy that I walked miles around the neighborhood to get. Realizing my puzzled façade I had, my dad then gave me another choice. He put all 10 of the snickers bars back out on the table. He then took 2 of them and gave me 8 bars. He said that I could do whatever I wanted to do with the eight, but said that he was going to take 2 of the snickers bars for staying up and making sure that me and my friends were well taken care of while walking around the neighborhood. He also said it was because he liked snickers bars. I agreed with the second choice that my dad gave me more than the first one, by a long shot. I don’t really know why my dad gave me the two choices. All I know is that I am in the 8th grade at C.O Wilson Middle School, study hard, get good grades and try to make responsible choices. I also feel that I would probably know better than my Dad, when I would need one of the snickers bars. Does anyone disagree with the choice I made?
