Last Thursday when I got to the stage for MARRY ME I saw the scene - TopicsExpress

Last Thursday when I got to the stage for MARRY ME I saw the scene I was in had abt 60 extras plus the 4 principles & guest star. I gently asked the 1st AD Mark Hansson did he think there would be any way I could be released in time to make a 12:30 callback in the neighborhohood He said hed ask the director, Beth McCarhty-Miller who always tried to accommodate if possible. He also asked me to find out how late I could get there. Agent said 1PM. They released me at 12:38 & had a golf car ready to whisk me to my car. I got there at 1PM. They were running late so I got a chance to breathe & in I went. Friday I arrived to find the same set-up as I knew we had more to shoot of the complicated scene, plus my close-ups. It would be a long day. I brought formal wear to attend a black tie event that night, should I get out in time. Tom would be attending w or w-out me. By noon the agent called to say I was on avaii for the commercial. When I gave Beth & Mark my freshly made banana bread, as a thank you I could tell them I was on avail. They were delighted. At 5:30 my agent called to say I had booked it!! Shoots this Thursday. DIRECT AUTO INSURANCE. I was so pleased to tell them their kindness meant I was able to book a job. It spread fast thru the cast, and high 5s were shared. I was released about 6:40 PM, changed into my formal wear, totiing 2 large garbage bags of cans/bottleS to recycle for Heifer (the set saved their stuff for me for 2 days). Got to the car, called Tom to say I was on my way. With no cars in the parking lot I made a quick U turn and heard a huge bump. Huh? Got out thinking I went over a tire guard. No gaurd. Drove another 20 & thought, better get out & ck for damage. Yowsa, the entire front half of my grill was hanging off. Utterly misstified as to how it happened, I figured I must have hit the lamp post, the only thing near me in the lot. A young man Andrew arrived to pick up his girlfriend fr work. I offered him $20 to drive me downtown to the gala. Then a security guard appeared & said I have to fill out paperwork, then go to the security office for more paperwork. Told Andrew no worries Ill call a cab. Off he went to get Donna, I did all the paperwork, got back to the lot and there they were waiting to take me downtown. They had planned to meet friends in Koreatown but pushed that 30 min to accommodate me. In the car I call USAA to file the claim. Pulling up to the venue I insisted they take $40 as my thank you. They refused, I insisted X 4 & then eventually when I said just give it to your church, they accepted. Once in Andrews hand, I insisted they spend it in Koreatown. I told them how my friends carried me for 4 of the leanest yrs of my life, while starting out in NYC. Had a great evening, my table mates sat in awe that I was even there. Tom reminded them my reaction was in keeping with my attitude abt life. Do your best & forget the rest. Regrettably I did not think to get a pic of my dashinig husband and my dolled up self, but since we had another gala on Sat night, I did get a pic then. Sat. afternoon was spent dealing w the tow truck, driving my damaged car home, getting to a movie, then home and dressed again for the evening gala. I did win two items in the auction, and had photos of my car to show that evenings tablemates. I cancelled seeing movies today, because I have so many things to get done (like this posting) before taking Tom to have a cataract surgery tomorrow at 7 AM. Then drive hime, get in my wrecked car (remember I just bought this Lexus in April) to the body shop, rent a car in time to get to a Noon lunch. May have to push that. This is a truncated account but the gist of it is stated. Can not praise the enitre MARRY ME cast, crew & production staff enough. So many nice things happened on my two days on set.
