Last Week I had the honor to attend Joel Kanaskys retirement party in Manhattan. I worked with Joel for many years in Rescue 1 and was proud to give him my seat back in 2003. (He became the captains chauffeur). Joel is one of the kindest, smartest and bravest men I have ever worked with. He provided amazing service on 9-11 and helped rebuild the command and the company in those darkest of days. The company will miss him. I hope he and Ruth enjoy many years of a tropical retirement- you earned it! Below- thats me and Joel tending to a man we pulled out from under a car that went into a restaurant back in 1999. Joel Kanasky a true rescue man!
