Last evening, I attended the monthly meeting of the CDD. There - TopicsExpress

Last evening, I attended the monthly meeting of the CDD. There were 6 Board Members and 5 attendees (2 of whom were workers who reported to the Board). I was the ONLY person who asked any questions and was politely wrapped over the knuckles for asking too many. I had a total of 5 questions: 1) What are we doing about unleashed dogs? A) This is a civil issue and neither the CDD nor HoA have any authority. Residents are advised to call animal control to deal with the animal. 2) What is being done about pet owners who do not pick up after their pets? A) Nothing can be done! This was put down to offending residents being disrespectful. 3) What is happening to the dog park on Prestwick Lane? A) Nothing 4) Why am I disallowed a login to into the Master Association web site? A) There are 3 bodies: a. The CDD - oversees lakes, roads, gate houses, landscaping of public areas. b. The Master Association - governs all tracts, unless that tracts has its own HoA. c. The HoA - If a tract has its own HoA, it does not fall under the Master Association. In our case, (Windsor Park), we have an HoA (which provides landscaping services) and we are therefore not part of the Master Association and are not eligible for a log in. 5) What is being done about illegal parking: A) This is an ongoing problem and one which they are going to tighten up. WHile there is a courtesy, which allows residents to call in an event at their home, which allows a few vehicles to be parked on the street for a short period, this is the exception and not the rule. The Board attorney reminded the meeting that NO STREET SIDE PARKING, is the default and cars will be towed. Other matters discussed included: i) a - Consideration of Resolution 2014-03 Adopting the fiscal year 2015 budget & relating to the annual appropriations b - Consideration of Resolution 2014-04 imposing Special Assessments and certifiying an Assessment Roll (I asked if this was a new assessment, but was told that it is the same assessment that we are currently being billed for and that there was not change - just approval to continue billing, till paid) ii) Staff Reports iii) Financial approval of balance cheet, check register. iv) Field Managers Report: this covered an electrical issue at one of the gate houses, which required an outside company to effect repairs, and the striking by lightning of 6 mature palm trees within the development which will be replaced at a cost of $4760, to maintain esthetic value. v) Due to the season, there is algae growth on the lakes which will be treated at 14-day intervals, until controlled. After the meeting (and off the record), 2 of the Board members afforded me the courtesy of extending their comments on points that I had raised. Basically, this was simply to agree with and support some of the points I had raised on behalf of requests at this group. The meeting was held at Remington Rec center and lasted one hour.
