Last evening, I had the great pleasure of attending an operetta - TopicsExpress

Last evening, I had the great pleasure of attending an operetta picnic production of Henry Purcells King Arthur with my friends, Debra Williams, Mary Whorton, and Ana Silva. It wasnt quite what I was initially expecting in that it had a punk setting as the Saxons were decked out in leather, spikes and fishnet stockings. There was rock and roll incorporated into the work, as well. However, in six scenes, the cast transported the audience to another time with great renditions of many of the original baroque arias composed in the 17th century. A few of the arias were excellent, although I was let down by the rendition of What power art thou? (The cold song). Nonetheless, it was great fun to be with friends and enjoy the small articles of food (picnic) between scenes.
