Last evening, Northlawn played a regional game against Reed Custer. Reed Custer was a good team. It started off with Streator down most of the game as much as 5 to 0. Streator picked up some major runs. Soon we were tied, then up by 1 and Reed Custer was up by 1 or 2. It was a nail chewing game. After 7 innings it was tied 10 to 10. It was beginning to be twilight . It was after 7 Pm and getting dark. No lights at the grade school field. Reed Custer tied to steal 3rd . He was safe but the call looked close. The player got up and surprised everyone and tried to steal home but got caught. The next player also tried to steal home and came running to home and must have been on a track team , he jumped high and over the base and got caught out. Two bad moves for their team. Streator was up. We had 1 out and a few men on base. One was on third. The pitch came and the hitter was called out with 3 strikes but the catcher dropped and lost control of the ball. The batter made to first but the boy on 3rd man it to home. Streator wins on a dropped ball strike out. Saturday in Coal City is next game.
