Last evening, we were in bloody heaven, in an ecstatic audience - TopicsExpress

Last evening, we were in bloody heaven, in an ecstatic audience privileged to be experiencing the gargantuan, magnificently satisfying voice of Bryn Terfel (EVERY SYLLABLE WAS, AS ALWAYS, THRILLINGLY CLEAR AND POWERFUL) and the perfect actress, Emma Thompson - oh, and yes, the sumptuous NY Philharmonic. I can tell you that the surprise old woman was indeed, the glorious Audra MacDonald, who was also thrilling throughout this wondrous gift of an evening. (It has been 35 years since we had the sheer delight of Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett and Len Cariou as Sweeney)! What indelible riches! (Oh, and pre-theater, we dined across Broadway at Cafe Fiorello, where we could look over and see my two great Chagalls at The Metropolitan Opera, where we have been so fortunate to experience Bryn Terfels enthralling Wotan in Wagners Ring). The (Lincoln) Center of the Universe!
