Last night I hosted a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) reception to congratulate the 19 YALI Washington Fellows selected to represent Uganda. The reception was well attended with many of our Youth Advisors to Washington, our colleagues from our Generation Change program, YouthWorks participants, YALI alumni, and the newly-selected YALI participants present. Engaging with this tremendous group of young leaders was so incredibly energizing and it is events like this that give me great hope for Uganda’s future. I hope our partners enjoyed the evening as much as I did. They all are an inspiration to the peers, to the many even younger Ugandans thinking about their own lives and futures, and to me.
