Last night I joined thousands of our fellow citizens to celebrate at the 68th Annual Pakistani Independence Day Festival. I received a very warm reception and met many wonderful people who are proud of their heritage, their American home and our shared community of Los Angeles. I spoke to the crowd about my belief in the importance of diversity in building a strong nation and in in the importance of law enforcement’s partnership with the community. I was joined in recognizing this vital community by Special Agent In Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Counterterrorism Division David Bowdich, Rep. Maxine Waters, Adnan Khan and Qazi Asad from the Pakistani-American council, rock star Nouman Khalid, and many other luminaries of the Pakistani-American community.
