Last night I stood behind a long line of people at the Community - TopicsExpress

Last night I stood behind a long line of people at the Community Council Meeting for The Ludlam Trail to speak on behalf of responsible planning with an excellent trail befitting a world class city and tourist mecca, Miami. The applicants said they desired a world class trail, yet showed images of a marginal path, and admitted that the trail could be as little as 10 wide. Out of the many bike advocates, runners, and bike commuters I know we have, hardly any showed up. The applicant request is to zone the land pink, (accommodating 2600) units, with no clear idea of how their proposal looks, and hence, the trail as an afterthought with little consequence in their proposal. The Ludlam Trail would link to the Underline and the Snapper Creek Trail, and is the one chance to largely boost cycling/recreation /transit use in the region on an urban trail. The next community council meetings will be on Monday, Sept 29, 6pm at MLK Plaza (2525 NW 62 St) and Tuesday, Sept 30, 6:30 pm at 350 NW 97 Ave (Ruben Dario Middle). If you care about the future of trails, responsible development and design and process, you must speak up!
