Last night I was at a normally sedate restaurant when a large group of folks came in to celebrate their 20th high school reunion. The group obviously had a few beverages before they arrived and continued to do so at the restaurant bar. At some point, a police officer working at the restaurant requested that one of the patrons leave. He refused. The officer politely repeated his request. For some reason the patron thought it would be a good idea to make physical contact with the officer. And then he figured the officer wouldnt mind a beer shower. When the officer attempted to place him in handcuffs, he strongly resisted arrest and soon a number of officers joined the party but had difficult subduing him. What was most remarkable about the scene were the thirty or so inebriated individuals shouting that the person arrested had not done anything wrong! Perhaps they missed the direct assault on the officer. As the officers continued in their efforts to arrest the individual, he kept shouting, I cant be arrested. I cant be arrested. I later learned that he is one of those high brow DC government folks. Probably not the best judgment. #senseless
