Last night I was reading in Matthew 14 about how Peter walked on - TopicsExpress

Last night I was reading in Matthew 14 about how Peter walked on the water for a short time and when he took his eyes off Jesus he started to sink and cried out to Jesus and Jesus reached out and saved him. I then began to think about how I have arthritis in my knees and sometimes after being on my feet working for an hour or more they begin to hurt bad enough to bring tears. The Lord showed me a revelation once about receiving his healing for that and any other pain or sickness I may have. He showed me Isaiah 53:5 He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed. Sickness, disease, pain and things like that are curses caused by sin (Deuteronomy 28 will tell you this) We have been redeemed from this curse because Jesus took our sins upon himself and took the penalty (death) of those sins, so if we receive this gift he offers to us we not only receive salvation from eternal death but we also receive healing as well. Why do we not see it? The answer is because “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) We have been taught and shown in God’s word about how to receive salvation but usually people don’t connect healing in with salvation but as you can clearly see in Isaiah 53:5 that it is connected! If we truly have faith to receive salvation we also have faith to receive healing! Jesus came to give us abundant life, not just life! (John 10:10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.) Now back to Matthew 14, I have claimed Isaiah 53:5 and prayed thanking God for his blood that cleansed me from my sins and robe of righteousness that covers me, and that because I am forgiven and proclaimed righteous by Jesus that I am also healed of all sickness and disease) And at that moment the pain subsided and I continued to work pain free! But it always comes back after a while. So as I was reading Matthew 14 it dawned on me that Peter could do such a miraculous thing as walk on water as long as he paid no attention to the waves around him and kept his focus on Jesus! That’s why the pain comes back! I take my focus off what Jesus did for me and start to focus once again on the pain! WOW! If we constantly keep our focus on Jesus instead of our weaknesses we will receive that promised healing or promise of redemption of whatever weakness we have. This is awesome but not an easy task with all the waves that are around us in our daily lives. It takes practice!! The faith we need to have to receive healing is not in the healing itself as some TV preachers would have us believe, but the faith we need to have is in Jesus himself. DUH! We keep the faith in Jesus by reading, hearing, studying the word of God because the word of God IS ABOUT JESUS! The word of God IS JESUS! (John 1:1) then we are keeping our eyes on Jesus instead of the weakness, sickness, disease, pain (aka the curses) Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us!
