Last night after a great meeting I decided to go have dinner at a Grilled Fish Cafe on Beverly near La Brea (in L.A.). My mom called so I talked to her on the phone on the way and as when I arrived we still hadnt finished our conversation. So I decided to walk to the corner of the block until we finished. At the corner of the block was a fancy furniture store with a small showroom, but a large parking lot. The police pulled in the lot and immediately started searching the area. They never even looked at me so I felt relatively comfortable. I watched them for a few seconds then turned around and looked down the block. At that precise moment I saw an older man get hit by a car. His body flew up in the air like a rag doll and crashed to the ground. I could hear his body land. I was at the other end of the block! There was no doubt in my mind he was seriously injured.... or dead. I thought his hips and back must be broken. Then I yelled for the police who thought I was crazy at first. I explained what just happened and where the old man was. He lying in the crosswalk of the street. I told them to call an ambulance. They got to the corner maybe 3 minutes after the man had been hit. An ambulance arrived less than 5 minutes later. I didnt go down the street to observe, but I said a prayer for him. Crazy way to end the day.
