Last night, bus-stop, two men, legs wide spread taking a three seats bench. I came over and asked them to let me sit. Each moved just a wee bit to one side, not even thinking of closing their legs. I sat down in the narrow space they left me, and asked them Can you close your legs, I have no room. One of them responded You have loads of room, its only your bag thats taking all the space.. As I told him that its not my beg, but his legs, and asked why does it seem sensible to him that I should be sitting on half a seat, while they take over the bench, their bus arrived, and they both left. This is a daily experience in the public transport. Most days, I just dont bother with the dialogue. אתמול בלילה, בתחנת האוטובוס, שני גברים ברגלים פתוחות לרווחה השתלטו על ספסל של שלושה מושבים. הייתי עם תיק כבד וניגשתי וביקשתי מה לתת לי לשבת. כל אחד זז טיפ-טיפה הצידה, ואף אחד מהם לא טרח לסגור אפילו במעט את הרגליים. התיישבתי בחתיכת הספסל הקטנה שהם פינו לי. ביקשתי בנימוס שיסגרו את הרגליים, כי אין לי מקום. אחד מהם השיב יש לך המון מקום. זה רק התיק שלך שתופס את כל המקום. בזמן שאמרתי לו שזה לא התיק שלי, אלא הרגליים שלו, ושאלתי למה נראה לו הגיוני שאני אשב מכווצת כולי, בזמן שהם מתפרסים על כל הספסל, האוטובוס שלהם הגיע ושניהם קמו. זו חוויה יומיומית של נסיעה בתחבורה ציבורית. ברוב הימים, אני מוותרת על הדיאלוג.
