Last night i was trying to track down some unusual engine noises - TopicsExpress

Last night i was trying to track down some unusual engine noises under the hood so i grabbed my trusty stethoscope and from each valve cover i heard something that just wasnt right. Since it was due for for a valve lash check anyways i pulled the left cover and found that one of the baffle screws had fallen out and the other one was very loose. When i pulled the right side i found that both screws had fallen out and the baffle plate was laying down along side the valve springs for #8. I was fortunate that all the screws were still laying inside the heads and that there was no damage. I de-greased everything and used Loctite and put it all back together. When i put this new motor in back in 2012 i went with the Pro Form slant edge valve covers, they are a bit pricey at $219.00 a set but they are well made and designed to clear roller rockers and stud girdles and still allow you to use baffles. I never even gave a thought to check these screws. I got lucky and avoided a lot of damage. Just passing the info on to all my car guys and girls.
