Last night in Crossroadz Christian Church ladies Bible study Psalm - TopicsExpress

Last night in Crossroadz Christian Church ladies Bible study Psalm 37:4 was quoted “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”. Someone said, “I wonder what “delight” means.” I wanted to see too so I made it my morning study. The Hebrew word for delight is anag עָנַג (Strong’s #6026) and in essence means to live softly and delicately. Now, that doesn’t make much sense when we look at just verse 4 but if we read the Psalm in its entirety we discover that the purpose of the psalm is to discover the truth about the full heritage of the child of God in the face of injustice. We are told to: Fret not because of evildoers (vs 1) Fret not because of him who prospers (vs 7) Fret not because it only causes harm (vs 8) To live softly and delicately and delight in the Lord is to center our lives on the Lord not in what we are “fretting” over. It is not letting envy cause you to fret because others prosper. It’s to stay put wherever He has planted you and feed on His faithfulness. It is to fret not but rather trust in the Lord and believe He’s in control in the chaos. “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” (vs 3-4) Heavenly Father, help us to trust in You, to delight in You so that Your desires become our desires. Amen and Amen.
