Last night my boy and I watched ‘A Beautiful Mind’ – the - TopicsExpress

Last night my boy and I watched ‘A Beautiful Mind’ – the umpteenth viewing for me, but the first for my son. Joshua quickly picked up on some discreet pointers Ron Howard placed in the film to get the audience thinking – nuances in certain scenes I had missed despite having watched the film a million times before. After the movie my son said he thought John Nash had been ‘set up by the American secret services’, and a quick scout on Google revealed we were not the only people to have this conversation. This got me thinking. Have those unconventional books on my shelf changed my son’s thinking? Is he listening to too many Muse songs on his iPod? Or have I raised a boy to see the things that most of us either can’t, or choose to ignore?
