Public bar in the Hollywood Hotel, corner of Hunt and Foster Streets, Surry Hills, Sydney Date created: After 1940 Description: View of a curved linoleum-topped bar edged with corrugated chrome and faced with marbled tiles. The tiles are also used on the walls in conjunction with plain tiles and as trims. The room has a tiled floor, chromed edgings and fixtures, streamlined cornices and is lit by bowl shaped ceiling lights. Other details include leadlight decoration strips on upper window panels, ventilation openings, a cash registerand a box of Aspro on the top shelf. There is also a framed poster reproduction of a painting by Tom Woodman advertising Reschs Long Bottle Pilsener. On the window above the door is written: Ernest Jurgensen/ licensed to retail fermented/ & spirituous liquors. Originally known as the Navada, the hotels name was changed to Hollywood in October 1941.
