Last night, the Senate unanimously approved my bill, the Improving Trauma Care Act of 2014 (HR 3548). This common-sense legislation modernizes the definition of ‘trauma’ to include burn victims. Simply updating the definition of ‘trauma’ to incorporate burns will strengthen America’s burn care infrastructure, and promote the integration of burn and trauma care – something that’s particularly important when dealing with mass casualty disasters.
