Last night, we had our book club. Two of the women were mid-60s, loud and brassy and talked with thick New York and New Jersey accents and had us laughing all night. Bonnie, the New Yorker, said that last week she went to take an Ambien and accidently took a water pill instead. She said, Instead of sleeping, I was up all night running to the bathroom! Then, Linda, who sounds like Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinnie (turns out her husband had owned a body shop, too!), said, (and you have to imagine a New Jersey accent as you read this): I told my granddaughter, people from New York are called New Yorkers. People from New Jersey are New Jersians. But you know what we call people from Connecticut? Jerks! And since none of us were natives of Connecticut, we laughed. But then, we had a discussion, What do you call people from Connecticut? Oh, and somewhere along the line, we talked about the book!
