Last nights final game of the Autumn Season 2014 saw twelve - TopicsExpress

Last nights final game of the Autumn Season 2014 saw twelve players make it to the most important game thus far. All the regulars were in attendance and almost everyone had something to play for. An eventful night was had and when the dust settled all the major events were settled. Here are the highlights. Stavros Paphitis was the first player to bite the dust this week and damaged his chances of making the top 5 prize positions. Ultimately he was taken out (or at least all the major damage was done) by Kelvin Williams. Stav held AJ on a Jack high board and Kelvin had QJ. The river card was the Queen and once again Stav was very unlucky to be eliminated. Stelios Paphitis was out early too. His elimination left Alec as guaranteed to claim the 3rd place prize in our leaderboard. Which considering he lead the table for weeks was a little bit of an anti climax for him. Glenn Beere also failed to make the final table when he was beaten by Antonis Kollias holding QQ. This did however, with Stavs early elimination, make him the big favourite to take the 5th place overall prize. Is all the had to hope was that Antonis or Jay Tank didnt win the game on the night. On the final table, luckily for Glenn, Jay was the first player out. What happened next was the hand of the night without question......... Four players ended up all in. Two before the flop and two after. The short stacked Darran Medhurst and Alec were all in preflop whilst Kelvin and Scott Schnape went all in after it. Alec held 99, Darran A6, Kelvin J8diamonds and Scott AQ. The flop was Q64 which gave Scott a commanding lead but there were two diamonds for Kelvin. Amazingly the turn card was a 6 to give Darran the lead but the river card was a diamond to give Kelvin the winning flush and eliminate all three players at once. This elimination for Scott left him holding on to the top spot with his fingernails and he had to hope that Will didnt come first or second. After Sharyn Chivers, who once again had been working with a short stack, was eliminated in 4th place a major battle was on to decide the last two important places in the league with Will needing to survive one more spot whilst Antonis had to win to take 5th. Unfortunately for Antonis he was the next out being eliminated when Will made a straight and he held a pair of Jacks. This left Glenn as the holder of overall 5th place and also ensured that Will was our Autumn champion. The heads up battle was a fast one. After some too and fro Will and Kelvin decided to split the prizes and play one hand to decide the winner. This hand was won by Will with a pair of 5s. Congratulations to Will on last nights victory. Also congratulation to Will, Scott, Alec, Stelios and Glenn for being this seasons top 5 players. Well done all. See you all next week for the start of the Winter Season 2014.
